Just check the QG label on the fruit. If it's grown by us it will have 'The Good Rich Fruit Co' printed on it.
The main ways that we establish ourselves as different from other fruit growers is our innovative growing techniques. Find out more: Growing Techniques
Anthocyanins give the dark purple colouring. Generally, the darker the plum the higher the level of anthocyanins. They are also the antioxidants that scientists are linking to blood pressure control, diabetes control, improved brain function, etc.

As growers we are constantly measuring fruit sugar levels (Brix), acid levels, firmness, skin colour, flesh colour, and importantly taste, to determine the optimum time to harvest. After years of testing and analysing the data, we have come up with levels that all of these criteria have to reach before we will start picking.
When grown and harvested properly the Queen Garnet has higher nutrient density, higher antioxidant (anthocyanin) levels, and a better flavour profile than other plums. It has a very good balance of sweetness and acid. It can deliver health benefits that other plums cannot match.
The Queen Garnet is more difficult to grow than other plum varieties. There is more work involved for us as growers to produce a premium product. It also has to be tree ripe before harvest. Most plums keep ripening after harvest, but Queen Garnet does not. It must be ripe or the consumer will get an unsatisfactory eating experience. The period however of ripeness is quite short for the Queen Garnet and this means we have to madly pick the fruit as quickly as possible so that all the fruit is of high quality.
This is linked with Queen Garnets superior eating quality and health benefits.
